Happy New Year!!  I’ll bet you all are getting cabin fever like I am.  It seems like spring will never get here!

To help us all get into the spirit of spring, we have planned two luncheons and the spring banquet.  The first luncheon is on Feb 2. We are having the first luncheon at El Ranchito Mexican Restaurant.  We decided to try this place because several members had problems with the former location.  We will gauge your reactions to El Ranchito and decided after the luncheon if we want to return or try somewhere else.

The restaurant is located at 7725 5 Mile Road.  This is the intersection of 5 Mile and Beechmont Ave.  It is located across 5 Mile from IHOP and behind the BP on Beechmont.  There is an Outback Restaurant just to the north of El Ranchito on 5 Mile.  Lunch will start at about 11:30.

The second luncheon will be a month later on March 02.  We will let you know later where we will be having it.  Finally, the spring banquet will be April 06.

Please feel free to bring any prospective new members to any or all of the spring events.  In order for Par Hopers to continue, we need to constantly add to our membership.  The luncheons are a great way to show prospective members how Par Hopers works.  We all need to recruit new members from our friends, neighbors, and others.

The luncheons lead up to our first day of play on April 11, 2011.  The rules of play, times, and locations are the same as they have been for the past many years.  I hope we will have at least as much enjoyment as we have had this year as in past years.  Last year we had, on average, more golfers than in past years.  This was in part due to the good weather and fine condition of the course.  In addition, we have had an influx of over 30 new members the last few years.

This year, we will be playing on Mondays and Fridays until October 14.  We will close out the season by having our Fall Banquet on October 19.  We will try to have copies of the 2011 schedule available for the 2/02 luncheon.

The directors are working on several items for the 2011 season.  We will be trying hard to keep you all informed about events.  One of objectives is to have a bit more organization to the playing events including better published rules.

I’m looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Feb. 02 and, of course, on the first day of the Par Hoper’s golfing year
